Clash grouping for Navisworks

Collapse thousands of clash hits into reviewable assemblies.

Productivity Toolbox groups every clash of a test by nearest level, grid intersection, assignee, status, source file, or any item property. A Friday of sorting becomes a coordination meeting you can run.

Before and after

A coordination Friday, rewritten.

Same federated model, same clash tests. The difference is what happens after the clash run finishes.

Before

Raw clash output
~2,000 hits
Duplicates after model updates
~40% noise
Manual grouping effort
4 to 6 hours per run
Result shared with trades
by Monday, if lucky

With Productivity Toolbox

Grouped by level and grid
~200 groups
Duplicates collapsed automatically
noise eliminated
Grouping time
under a minute
Result shared with trades
the same afternoon

How it works

Three steps, one pass.

Clash grouping inside Productivity Toolbox reads from the standard Clash Detective. Your tests and tolerances do not change.

  1. 01

    Pick a rule

Nearest level, grid intersection, assignee, status, the source file of either item, or any property of either clashing item. Add a second rule to split each group further.

  2. 02

    Run the auto-group

Productivity Toolbox reads every clash of the selected test, buckets them by the rule, and creates one group per bucket. Buckets below your minimum size stay ungrouped. Existing groups can be kept or regrouped.

  3. 03

    Rename and export

Rename groups in batch by status, test name, tolerance, or a custom name. Export the Excel clash report with a summary sheet, a pivot, and a detailed sheet listing level, grid, and both clashing items.

Questions

What coordinators ask before they trial.

Does this change how I configure clash tests in Navisworks?
No. Productivity Toolbox reads clash results from the standard Clash Detective. Your tests, tolerances, and selection logic stay where they are. Grouping moves results into groups inside the same test. Nothing is deleted.
What happens to grouped results when the federated model updates?
Re-run the clash test in Navisworks, then run the auto-group again with the same rule. With Preserve existing groups on, results already grouped stay where they are and only the new hits are grouped. With it off, every result is regrouped from scratch and emptied groups are removed.
Which Navisworks versions and editions are supported?
Navisworks Manage 2021 to 2027. The plugin also installs on Navisworks Simulate, but the clash tools need Manage because Simulate has no Clash Detective.
How is it licensed?
Through the Autodesk App Store, tied to your Autodesk account. No license server, no key entry. A single subscription works across multiple machines subject to App Store terms.
