Installation and compatibility
How do I install the plugin?
Download and install directly from the Autodesk App Store. The installer adds a Productivity Toolbox ribbon tab to Navisworks Manage or Simulate the next time you launch the application. It installs for the current Windows user and does not need administrator rights.
Which Navisworks versions are supported?
Navisworks 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027, Manage and Simulate editions, on 64-bit Windows. One installer covers every version; the plugin loads the build that matches the Navisworks you start. The plugin interface is in English.
Does it work with Navisworks Simulate?
Group Elements, the Selection Set Manager, image and HTML reports, take-offs, and property import and export work in both Navisworks Manage and Navisworks Simulate. Clash Manager, Clash Results, Save Matrix and Load Matrix need Navisworks Manage, because Simulate has no Clash Detective. On Simulate those four buttons are greyed out with a Navisworks Manage only tooltip. The Section Box Manager and Generate Timeline work in both editions.
Where is the help for each command?
Every ribbon button has a tooltip that says what it does, what it needs and what it produces. Pressing F1 on a button opens the section of the user guide on this site that documents the command. The tutorials page lists every video.
Are there demo files to try the plugin on?
Yes. The installer includes a small federated model (architecture, structure and MEP), a rules file for Group Elements, a saved property cache, and a clash matrix workbook, so every workflow can be tried before running it on a project model. The installer places them in %APPDATA%\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Autodesk_Navisworks_ProductivityToolbox.bundle\Contents\Demo.
Does it change my model files?
No. The plugin works on the model open in Navisworks and does not change the source files. What it creates in the document, such as selection sets, clash statuses and names, clash tests, imported properties and TimeLiner tasks, is kept when you save the NWF or NWD.
Licensing and pricing
Is there a free version?
A 30-day free trial covers all features with no restrictions. After the trial, a Monthly or Annual subscription is required to continue using the plugin.
How is it licensed?
Licensing is handled entirely through the Autodesk App Store and tied to your Autodesk account. No separate license server or key entry is required.
Can I use it on multiple machines?
Yes. A single subscription is tied to your Autodesk account and can be signed in on multiple machines, subject to the Autodesk App Store terms of use.
Does it work offline?
The plugin checks the licence with the Autodesk App Store the first time you use a tool in a Navisworks session, using the Autodesk account signed in to Navisworks. After a successful check it works offline for 24 hours. After that it needs an Internet connection to check again.
What happens after the 30-day trial?
The plugin remains installed but the features stop working until a subscription is started. Your settings, selection sets, and configurations are preserved.
How do updates reach me?
Updates are published to the Autodesk App Store and install over the existing version. Every release is listed on the changelog page.
Support
Is support included?
Yes. Email support is included with every subscription.
What is the reference code in an error dialog?
When something goes wrong, the error dialog shows a short reference code. Quote it in your support email and the exact incident can be found in the diagnostics. File paths and your Windows user name are replaced by placeholders before an error report leaves your machine.
Where can I request features or report bugs?
Email [email protected] with details, and where relevant a screenshot or a short description of the Navisworks version and file scenario. Feature requests are reviewed and prioritized on a rolling basis.
Can a team share rules and settings?
Settings are saved per Windows user and apply to every model. Grouping rules, property caches and clash matrix workbooks are files, so a team can keep them on a shared drive and reuse them on other projects and machines.
Can I stop a long operation part way?
Yes. Analyze properties, Export Properties, the QTO, image and HTML reports and viewpoint generation can be cancelled from the progress bar. A cancelled image or HTML report or viewpoint export keeps what was finished; a cancelled QTO or property export writes no file. Since version 3.0.0, creating or editing a grouping, Import Rules, Cache Properties, batch-updating clash tests, Explode Model, Save all groups to selection sets and Import Properties can be cancelled too. A cancelled grouping or property cache scan leaves the previous state unchanged; the others keep what was finished and the dialog says how far it got.
Try every answer on your own model.
The trial is the full plugin for 30 days, installed from the Autodesk App Store.
